About CFD support company
CFD support, Ltd. was established in 2009 as a decision of two engineers and PhD graduates during their research fellowship at the prestigious Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics,
Jiří Šimonek and Luboš Pirkl, to deal with CFD on professional basis.
CFD is a very complex science which transcends several fields – physics, mathematics and software engineering. We have therefore built up a flexible team of young engineers, mathematicians and programmers with excellent education, because the cooperation of our top experts gives us the opportunity to cover fully all the needs of this demanding industry.
We deal primarily with the CFD computations, development of methodology for CFD computations and customized CFD software (we primarily use platform OpenFOAM®), mathematical models, numerical algorithms, visualization techniques, scripting and many other activities related to numerical simulations of physical phenomena.
Although the company is relatively young, it is dynamically growing and we have already scored a series of successes with customers primarily in turbomachinery, automotive and aerospace industry.
Jiří Šimonek
Jiří Šimonek is a co-founder and executive director of CFD Support. He is responsible for the overall management and operations of the company. He studied at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FNSPE).
He got his degree in Mathematics and Software Engineering, continued with a doctoral study focused on mathematical modeling in fluid dynamics which he successfully completed at the end of 2011. During doctoral studies, he worked as a lecturer at Czech Technical University. He also spent one year addressing the issue of numerical linear algebra at von Karman Institute in Belgium. Prior to founding his own company he worked for leading Czech companies (eg. SKODA AUTO) as a consultant for the development of new CFD methodologies. He has a wife and two sons. As an avid cyclist he is looking forward to expand his own stable with a new sprinters.
Luboš Pirkl
Luboš Pirkl is a co-founder and managing director of CFD Support. Luboš is responsible for external operations, public relations, marketing and sales. He studied at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME).
He got his master degree in Mathematical modeling in engineering in 2007, later he successfully finished his doctoral studies in 2011, where he majored in Mathematical modeling in Hemodynamics. During doctoral studies, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Technical Mathematics of CTU, he also devoted one year to the issue of a stratified flow at von Karman Institute in Belgium. He has a wife and three children, who are now beside CFD his main source of entertainment. He is also an avid motorbiker.
