Creating the Inlet Part

The inlet part has a rectangular profile and will be created out of the main cyclone body. Afterwards both parts, the body and the inlet, will be connected.

  • Create rectangle defining the inlet boundary using 3D Sketch again.
  • Navigate to the menu New Entity > Basic > 3D Sketch and set the following points (see Fig. crossref):
    1. 63 1 and click Apply.
    2. 64 1 and click Apply.
    3. 65 1 and click Apply.
    4. 66 1 and click Apply.
    5. 67 1 and click Apply.
  • Modify the Name to Inlet-sketch.
  • Finalize a sketch by clicking on Sketch Validation.

  • The surface of the inlet part (hexahedral) can be crated using the Extrusion Tool.
  • Navigate to the menu New Entity > Generation > Extrusion and set the following entries (see Fig. crossref):
    1. Rename Name to Inlet-extrusion.
    2. Set the sf Base to Inlet-sketch.
    3. Set the Vector to Y (OY in the Object Browser).
    4. Set the Height to 1.0.
    5. Click Apply and Close.

  • To create the inlet face navigate to the menu New Entity > Build > Face and set (see Fig. crossref):
    1. Rename Name to Inlet-face.
    2. Set Objects to Inlet-sketch.
    3. Click Apply and Close.
